    • Margaret "Margie" P. Oertel, 81, of Stratford, died on Wednesday evening at House of the Dove in Marshfield.

      Margie was born on April 11, 1923, in Rozellville, to Louis A. and Agnes (Gemski) Kraus. She attended St. Andrew's School in Rozellville

      She was united in marriage to Emil Oertel Sr. on April 29, 1941, in Rozellville. He died on July 27, 1997.

      Margie and Emil farmed and operated a grocery store and tavern in Rangeline until 1956 when they moved to Sherry. They farmed in Sherry until 1971 when they purchased and operated the Cameron Club. They sold the business in 1981 and continued to live in the Marshfield and Stratford areas.

      Margie enjoyed playing bingo, solitaire, going to the casino with her family and listening to polka music.

      Margie is survived by four daughters, Margene Grover of Wisconsin Rapids, Dorothy Moscinski of Junction City, and June (Donald) Landwehr and Carolee (Kelly) Burke, both of Stratford; five sons, Emil (Lucille) Oertel of Auburndale, Robert (Martha) Oertel of Arpin, Ervin (Debra) Oertel of Stillwater, Minn., Jerry (Diane) Oertel of Wisconsin Rapids, and Larry (Belle) Oertel of Rudolph; 40 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by six sisters, Lorraine Mancl of Milladore, LaVerne "Mutzie" Fahey of Rozellville, Marion Jakubowksi of Wausau, and Agnes (Ronald) Rehlinger, Virginia (Roman) Stauber and Marilyn "Bubby" (Richard) Wagner, all of Marshfield; six brothers, LeRoy (Anita) Kraus of Rozellville, Louis (Dorothy) Kraus of Wausau, Jerry (Jean) Kraus and Thomas (Margaret) Kraus, both of Marshfield, James (Irene) Kraus of Janesville, and Kenneth (Mary) Kraus of Stratford; and one brother-in-law, Dale Pokallus of Stratford.

      Margie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil; two sons, James and Ronald; one sister, Anita "Pete" Hupe-Pokallus; two brothers, Edward and Charles Kraus; and a son-in-law, Jim Moscinski.

      Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield, with the Rev. Michael Schelble officiating. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in the town of Richfield.
