- Sylvester H. "Joe" Borsche, 92, of Rockford, died Sun-day, May 25, 2008, in SwedishAmeri-can Hospital. Born March 31, 1916, in Hortonville, Wis., son of Joseph and Mary (Yogerst) Borsche. Married Ruth F. Kranzusch on May 27, 1944, in St. Peter and Paul Church in Hortonville. Veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a sergeant. Retired from Ingersoll as an engineering supervisor. Member of the Loyal Order of Moose, YMCA Retired Men's Club, Ingersoll Retirees Organization and the American Legion. He was an ace pool player at St. Anne Place and also enjoyed playing poker, bridge and bingo at St. Anne's. Survived by special nieces and a nephew, who fondly knew him as "Unk," Chelly (Ron) Harkness, Jean (Rich) Apgar and Joe (Judy) Borsche; grandniece, Kristen Esparza (Patrick) Hynes; grandnephews, Ryan (Roberta) Esparza, Daniel Apgar, Andrew and Erik Borsche; great-grand-nephew, Braden Hynes; great-grandnieces, Lily and Ruby Es-parza; nephew and nieces, Dan (Betty) Curry, Mary (Michael) Rand, Marlon (Bill) Pawlak and Jackie (Ken) Daniels. Predeceased by the love of his life, wife, Ruth in 1999; parents; seven sisters; and five brothers. Special thank you to his friends and the remarkable staff at St. Anne Place. Also to Dr. Einhorn and his caring staff, including the infusion room staff at SwedishAmerican Hospital. In addition, thank you to the 7th floor nurses of Swedish-American Hospital who showed they truly care and understand what comfort care means. Service at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, in Sunset Funeral Home, with visitation from 1 p.m. to time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
