Age 87, died unexpectedly Sunday evening at her home. The former Mary Verhagen, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Verhagen, was born September 22, 1892 in Clarksburg, Michigan. She lived in the Black Creek area since 1939; prior to that she and her husband farmed near Freedom. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Society, the Golden Agers, the Gold Star Mothers and the Masch-Duhm American Legion Auxiliary, Black Creek. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Sylvester (Loretta) Sanderfoot; Route 2, De Pere; and Mrs. William (Grace) Van Grinsven, Appleton; a son, Ferdinand, Appleton; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; a brother-in -law; a niece, whom she mothered: Mrs. Richard (Marian) Tease, Route 1, Fremont, and her five children. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Verhagen, in 1918, and her second husband, George Van Eperen, died in 1968; also preceded by three sons: Elmer Verhagen, Clarence and Larry Van Eperen; two sisters and four brothers. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Black Creek, with the Rev. Thaddeus Koszarek officiating. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly. Friends may call at the Muehl Funeral Home, Seymour, from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and at the church Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. A prayer service will be at 8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
