- James "Cricket" Gruetzmacher
formerly of New London - James "Cricket" H. Gruetzmacher, age 63 of Fort Myers, FL; formerly of New London passed away on March 11, 2018, the result of a motorcycle accident. Jim was born in New London on April 21, 1954, son of Harold and Lorraine (Lemke) Gruetzmacher. He worked in both the construction and roofing business and also at Pacon Papers, Appleton. He retired and moved to Florida where he continued his love of the outdoors working in golf course maintenance. Jim had a carefree spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a friend to many and loved riding motorcycle. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and the various friends he met on "The Longest Ride" LIFE!
Jim is survived by his mother Lorraine (Lemke-Gruetzmacher) Young, Mesa, AZ; sisters, Linda (Carleton) Oats, Mesa, AZ; Kay (Thomas) Hines, Rome, GA; Cindy (Michael) Wulf, New London; nieces and nephews: Jon Wulf, New London; Joseph (Katie) Hines, Acworth, GA; Penny (Tim) Willis, Aragon, GA; Melinda (Eric) Hull, New London. He is further survived by great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rufus and Almeda Gruetzmacher; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Hazel Lemke, his father Harold Rufus Gruetzmacher and a brother Jerry Lee Gruetzmacher.
A Memorial service for Jim will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
