- Violet Simon, 86, Green Bay, died Friday, June 6, 2008. Violet was born on Jan. 16, 1922 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Brown County, to the late Elmer and Catherine (Van Beek) Renier. On June 27, 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert C. Costello at St. Philip Catholic Church in Green Bay, WI. Violet was a longtime member of the Altar Society and the VFW Bellevue Auxiliary. Violet was also a floral designer, seamstress and truly enjoyed playing cards as well as golfing. Violet belonged to the Maribells Red Hat Club She is survived by her eight children and their spouses: Charles R. Costello (Betty Morgan), West Plains, MO; Karen Coppersmith (Philip), Denmark, WI; James R. Costello (Cynthia Tilly), DePere, WI; Christine A. Gaulke (Patrick), Dousman, WI; Cynthia A. O´Keefe (Michael), Green Bay, WI; Catherine M. Crawford, DePere, WI; John T. Costello (Diane Bauer), Wrightstown, WI; Robert G. Costello (Judy Schmidt), DePere, WI; by twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Sarah Renier; two nephews, Tony and Michael Renier and one niece, Joanne Huempfner (Todd). She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Costello and second husband, Fritz Simon; by two brothers, Orville and Harold Renier, one sister, Della DeBauche and one niece, Mary Carpenter (John). Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. VFW Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dave Pleier officiating. Burial in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
