- Harold H. "Doc" Tilkens, 88, Green Bay, began his journey to eternal life on Monday, May 9, 2005. Harold was born on March 3, 1917, in Green Bay, to the late John and Dorothy (Roeser) Tilkens. He was a 1936 graduate of East High School in Green Bay. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
On Sept. 11, 1943, he married the former Ruth Marquardt at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. He was employed with Hudson-Sharp, which later became FMC, for 45 years. Harold loved time with family and always enjoyed family holidays. He was also an avid sports fan and especially loved to play golf.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Ruth; his children, Gary (Julie) Tilkens, Green Bay; Denis (Beth) Tilkens, Green Bay; Mary (Bob) Vander Heyden, Green Bay; Julie Skorczewski, Kewaunee; 11 grandchildren, David (Renee) Tilkens; Jeff (Carrie) Tilkens; Dayna Tilkens; Andy (Kari) Tilkens; Sarah Tilkens; Tom Tilkens; Willie Vander Heyden; Bonnie Vander Heyden; Jennifer (Eric) Kinjerski; Paul (finacee, Jennifer) Skorczewski; Sam (Stacie) Skorczewski; eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother, Don (Evelyn) Tilkens; one stepsister, Elaine (Jim) Le Mieux; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Peter Tilkens; one granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Tilkens; one sister, Joyce Madigan; one infant brother Bobby; and one stepbrother, Merlin.--Green Bay Press-Gazette, Tuesday, May 10, 2005, Page 12
