Mrs. Melvin G. Van Asten 138 Jefferson Place Kimberly
Age 77, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997 at Outagamie County Health Center. She was born on July 7, 1919, the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary [Vebeten] Bowers. Eugenia married Melvin Van Asten on October 3, 1946 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the William Verhagen Union 60 of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Melvin; a son and daughter in-law, Richard and Peggy Van Asten, Darboy; two daughters and sons in-law, Jennifer and Al Hatton, Kaukauna; Melinda and Jim De Valk, Little Chute; eight grandchildren; Lisa Van Asten, Brian Van Asten, Todd Hatton, Wendy [Derek] Taycher, Adam Hatton, Jason [Jill] De Valk, Heather De Valk and Michelle De Valk and her fiance, John Woelfel; two great grandchildren; Tiffany and Shaunna; a brother and sister in-law, Omer and Cordel Bowers, Kaukauna; a sister, Marie Huss, Abbotsford.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Ferdinand, Raymond, Elzear, Ralph and Alvin 'Sam' Bowers; and three sisters, Corina Van Wychen, Lucy Arnoldussen and Sister Rita Bowers.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 31, 1997 at Holy Name Catholic Chuch, Kimberly. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may call at Holy Name Catholic Church, 602 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly from 3 p.m. on Monday until the time of Mass. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Complete military rites will be conducted by the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion immediately following the Mass.
