- Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Wed. Feb. 8, 1961, p. 26, c. 1. Chilton Rite Planned For Mrs. Karls. Resident Of Charlesburg Dies At 39; 7 Children Are Survivors. Funeral services for Mrs. Benedict Karls, 39, Charlesburg, who died in her home Tuesday, following a six-month illness, will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral home, Chilton, and 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic church in Charlesburg. The Rev. Francis Melchiors will officiate. Born in Mt. Calvary, Feb. 20, 1921, the daughter of William and Sarah Haensgen Schmitz, she attended parochial schools in Mt. Calvary and Jericho. Mrs. Karls was a member of St. Charles church and the Christian Mothers of that church. On Nov. 17, 1941, she married Benedict Karls at the Holy Trinity church in Jericho. Survivors include her widower; and seven children: Joyce, Gerald, Ronald, Dianne, Audrey, Allen, and Karen; two brothers, LaVerne and Roger of Jericho; and two sisters, Mrs. Irmine Cirter, Pipe, and Mrs. Gerald Ludwig, Kloten. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Benedict Karls, 39, Charlesburg, who died Tuesday, were at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Catholic church, Charlesburg. The services were preceded by brief family rites in the Pfeffer Funeral home, Chilton. The celebrant of the solemn requiem mass was the Rev. Francis J. Melchiors. Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Norbert Klapperich, Mrs. Ray Bennin, Mrs. Ben Kern, Mrs. Elmer Muellenbach, Mrs. John Muellenbach and Mrs. Gregor Propson. All are members of the Christian Mothers society. Active pallbearers were Floyd Brill, Leander Haensgen, Kenneth Criter, David Dreifuerst and Joseph Dreifuerst. Burial was in the church cemetery.
