    • HILBERT – On Thursday morning, Feb. 9th, at 10 o’clock Rev. Ruppold of St. John officiated at the burial of John Jacobs, who had passed away on Friday afternoon at the home of his son, Math.

Mr. Jacobs was born in Germany on February 8th, 1846, and came to this country at the age of 8. In 1868 he was married to Anna Kees and they made their home on the farm which was later sold to Fred Weber. Mrs. Jacobs passed away in 1907 and since that time Mr. Jacobs has made his home in Chicago and Hilbert. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs were pioneers of Calumet County, having carved out a home in the wilderness. His was a familiar face on our streets and his kindly countenance and genial greeting will be greatly missed.

He is survived by five children, two daughters and three sons, viz: Mrs. Jos. Meier of California, Mrs. Anton Dohr living one mile west of town, Mich. Jacobs of Idaho, Math. and John residing near St. John.
