    • Baumann, Henry G. "Hank"

      Henry G. Baumann, age 82, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday morning, May 13, 2008. He was born January 31, 1926, to the late Henry O. and Elizabeth (Lawall) Baumann, in Appleton where he was a resident all of his life. Hank married Clara M. Lenz on August 26, 1950, at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was involved in farming; he then entered the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Following this he was employed by Elm Tree Bakery, which became Rich Products, for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement Hank was employed by the American Legion Club. Hank enjoyed gardening and helping many people by fixing things. He was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was very active with the Oney Johnston-Edward Blessman American Legion Post #38, where he served in many offices, including Commander and was the Adjutant for many years and a member of Voiture 1140 40 et 8. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Clara; five children, Linda (John) Breitzman, Appleton; JoAnn Reischl (Donald Quella), Sherwood; Thomas Baumann, Appleton; David (Connie) Baumann, Dale; Sally (Frank) Babblit, Slinger; nine grandchildren, Sarah Breitzman, Nicholas Breitzman, Laura (Jeramy) Bidwell, Jessica Lumaye, Jason (Mary Ann) Reischl, Jody Beach, Joshua (Nicole) Baumann, Jennifer Baumann and Dustin Neisen; four great grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Carl (Eileen) Baumann, Appleton; Raymond (Virginia) Baumann, Appleton; two sisters, Marie Bushman, Appleton; Elizabeth (Russ) Burns, Kimberly; three brothers-in-law, Emmett Decker, Appleton; Norman (Helen) Lenz, Kaukauna; Joseph Lenz, Appleton; four sisters-in-law, Marion Baumann, Appleton; Jean Baumann, Appleton; Gladys Lenz, Little Chute and Helen Lenz, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Henry, infant sister, Marie Therese, an infant brother, George, two sisters, Gertrude Decker, Blanche (Richard) Strelka, four brothers, Joseph (Jeanette) Baumann, Clem Baumann, Claire (Leona) Baumann and Nicholas Baumann; four brothers-in-law, Gene Bushman, Eugene Weyers, James Lenz and Donald Lenz. The funeral liturgy for Henry will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 16, 2008, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 pm, Thursday and again on Friday at the church, from 10:00 am until the time of the mass. There will be an American Legion visitation at 7:00 pm and a parish prayer and scripture service at 7:15 pm Thursday. A memorial fund is being established.
