    • Evers, Viola A.
      Freedom

Age 90, was taken into Gods loving hands the morning of July 6, 2014. She was born on June 7, 1924 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Peter and Lucy (Coenen) Diedrick. On May 3, 1947 she was united in marriage to Edward Evers and they shared 53 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in January 0f 2000. They farmed all the years they were married, at first in Crivitz raising pheasants and then in Freedom where they farmed until their retirement in 1978. Vi was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Her faith was very important to her and she rarely missed Sunday services until her feet could no longer carry her there. She was an active member of the Freedom VFW Auxiliary and the Freedom Golden Agers where she held the secretary position for 9 years. She helped with the Freedom meal site where she served meals to the elderly people who needed a healthy meal. She was also an active member of the Freedom Christian Mothers, and was a volunteer at the election polls. Even as a child, she was a farm girl. Until the day of her death, she always loved to watch things grow. She was a wonderful cook and many people remember her for her famous homemade bread and Saturdays at her house consisted of making 6 loaves of bread and a large kettle of homemade soup. She loved to play cards, whether it be sheepshead with the number of card playing family and friends, Skip-Bo with her children and grandchildren, or Euchre on Wednesdays with her lady friends. She also enjoyed and was looking forward to going to her son's home in Gleason, WI where all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would get together for a weekend in July for fun in the sun. She thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone have fun.

Vi is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild: Jim & Marilyn Evers and their children: Bret & Julie Evers, Heather & Devin Grdinic; Carol & Rich Bichel and their children: Todd & Heather Van Boxtel and their children Travis & Brittany; Lona Van Boxtel and her children: Kayla & Crystal; Tara & Quentin Kasuboski and their children: Nathan, Maya, Lucas, and Parker, and Hailey & Emily Bichel; Carl & Betty Evers and their children:

Mom, you were the best Mom anyone could ask for. You were an inspiration to all of us. You were a very special lady always willing to help anyone you could at any time. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you.
