    • Eugene E. "Whitie" Jansen, Little Chute, age 76, died Friday January 4, 2013 at American Grand Assisted Living in Darboy. He was born in Little Chute on July 11, 1936 to the late Joe and Hattie (DeBruin) Jansen. Whitie attended St. John Grade School and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1954. He served in the Army from 1955-1957. Once Whitie was home, he married Alice Oudenhoven on May 3, 1958 at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. He was employed at Lakeview and Kimberly Mills and retired from the Little Chute Post Office after 28 years of service. Whitie was a proud member of the Little Chute Fire Department for 12 years. He was especially pleased when his son and nephews followed him into service with their respective fire departments.

      Gene loved to socialize, whether it was time at the cottage on Archibald Lake or neighborhood gatherings, he was an excellent host that ensured his guests enjoyed themselves. The neighborhood New Year's Eve parties are warmly remembered. Whitie enjoyed playing cribbage and letting his grandkids drive the pontoon. Together, Whitie and Alice loved to travel. He also enjoyed watching the Packers.

      Gene is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice; daughters: Kathy (Steve) Horn, Town of Harrison; Karla (Joe) Greenwood, Freedom; sons: Mark (Kitty), Little Chute and Doug (Ellen), Kaukauna. grandchildren: Zach, Adam, Jacob and Sarah Horn, Josh (Aimee) and Brian Fischer, Kasey and Justin Greenwood, Chelsea and Nathan Jansen; step grandchildren: Ady (Tim) Miller, Rebecca (Kurt) Theyel, Zeb (Ashley) and Missie Bayer, Katie (Nick) Murtha; step great grandchildren: Deidre Miller, Jianna and Samara Theyel, Zander and Brin Bayer; sister: Beulah (Marty) Vanden Hogen; sisters-in-law: Betty and Claire Jansen; Alice's family: Kay Oudenhoven, Pat (Greg) VanZeeland, Mary(Butch) Malsavage, Joann (Jerry) Lamers, Gail (Terry) Jasmer and Jean (Dave) Coenen; Godchildren: Ann Lesenfelder, Randy Jansen, Gail Jasmer, Renee Brochtrup, Dawna Van Handel and Dan Malsavage. He is also survived by sponsored daughter Aida Kagwiria of Nairobi.

      In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his granddaughter Katie Lynn Greenwood; brothers: Stan (Marcella), Rollie, Melvin, Dusty (Mavis) and Dave; nephews Tommy and Joseph Jansen, brother-in-law Arnold Thyssen; and his in-laws Tony, Fern, Danny (infant) and Roger Oudenhoven, George Swalbach III; and nephew Billy Oudenhoven.

      Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00pm until time of Mass at 5:00pm. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will follow. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
