- Rose Marie Calvert, age 88 of Darlington, WI, died on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Upland Hills Health Nursing & Rehab in Dodgeville, WI.
She was born on November 16, 1921 in Darlington to James and Rose (Cavanaugh) McGuire.
She graduated from Darlington High School. On April 6, 1942, Rosie was united in marriage to William F. Calvert at Holy Rosary in Darlington. They farmed together their entire married life and were blessed with six children.
William preceded her in death on June 15, 1990. Rosie was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and of its Council of Catholic Women. She was happiest when with her family. Rosie especially loved the holidays when she could see all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her loving, caring ways as well as her cooking, especially her chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cakes, fresh bread, and fried chicken.
Survivors include her four sons: Jerry (Jan) Calvert of Florida,
Walker "Doc" (Linda) Calvert of Livingston,
Tom (Betty) Calvert of Mineral Point,
and David (Cathy) Calvert of Darlington;
and two daughters: Connie (Jon) Blackman of Stoughton,
and Janie (Bob) Short of Sun Prairie.
Rosie is further survived by 15 grandchildren: Maria, Bill, Beth, Kris, Shane, Bradley, Cory, Jennifer,
Kristine, Tamara, Tiffany, Tracy, Kyle, Jeremy, and Katie;
18 great-grandchildren and one on the way;
two brothers: Don (Ruth) McGuire of Darlington and Francis (Evelyn) McGuire of Little Chute;
and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, with Fr. Randy Budnar officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI.
