      Age 66, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday following a short illness. He was born December 1, 1912 in Appleton, where he was a lifelong resident. He was employed by the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department for 36 years until his retirement January 1 1974. During his career, Lt. Zuelzke rose through the ranks to Lt. Investigator, the position he held since 1946, the first of its level in Outagamie County. Lt. Zuelzke also was the first police officer to utilize bloodhounds in his investigations throughout the state. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a former member of the Wisconsin Deputy Sheriff's Association and the Wisconsin Sheriffs Association. Survivors include his wife Julie McGinnis Zuelzke; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Donald Gast, Hilbert; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Jr. and Carol Zuelzke, Appleton; three half-brothers: George Schuh Jr., Gordon Schuh, both of Appleton; Frank Schuh, Oshkosh; a half-sister, Mrs. Orville (Beverly) Kehl, Menasha; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James; his brother, Carol; two half-sisters. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. James H. Putman officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday until the cortege leaves for the church. The prayer and scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A memorial fund is being established.
