- Dorothy J. Loper, 80, Menasha, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Menasha, on Sept. 1, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Maud (Sheprow) Coopman. Dorothy married Warren Loper on Feb. 3, 1951. Dorothy, a lifelong Menasha resident, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha.
Survivors include a son, Mark (Mary) Loper, and their children, Heidi and Madeline Loper; a daughter, Linda (John) Moore, and her daughters, Alicia Smolinski, Appleton, Angela Smolinski, Milwaukee; and their father, James Smolinski; a sister, Lorraine (Robert) Patterson; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Coopman and Dorothy Coopman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, in 2006; sisters, Ada Coopman, Marian Scherz, Evelyn Dietz; and brothers, Oliver, Raymond, Richard, Vernon and Benjamin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second St., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating.
Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha.
A memorial fund is being established to benefit St. Mary Catholic Church's organ restoration project.
Dorothy's family would like to thank the staffs of The Gardens of Fountain Way and Oakridge Gardens and the many doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital who took such good care of Mom over the past two years.
