Fred Altschwager, 79, died at his home in the town of Herman Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the home and at Trinity Lutheran church in the town of Herman. The Rev. W. J. Kitzerow will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
He was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, on Oct. 1, 1858. At the age of 16 he came with his parents to this country and made his home in the town of Sheboygan Falls. On March 29, 1885, he was married to Miss Maria Boeldt and the couple took up their residence on the present farm in the town of Herman one mile north of Howards Grove. He had lived there almost 53 years. In 1935 he and his wife had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.
Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Otto wider of Kohler, Mrs. R. C Pippert of Cleveland, Mrs. William Athorp of the town of Mosel, and Mrs. Louis Ahrens of Sheboygan; three sons, Otto of the town of Herman, Paul on the homestead farm and Dr Edwin of Tonica, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Sophia Kruse of Millersville and 14 grandchildren. One son, Rudolph preceded him in death at the age of 3.
