    • Mary Altschwager Sheboygan Press August 26, 1943

      Mrs. Marie Altschwager, 82, widow of Fred Altschwager, passed away this morning after a short illness at her home in town Herman, a mile north of Howards Grove on County Trunk FF. Mrs. Altschwager was born in town Plymouth on September 15, 1860, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boeldt and as a young girl attended the district schools. She was married to Fred Altschwager on March 29, 1885, at the Town Herman Trinity Lutheran church at Howards Grove. She resided at the present farm homestead since she was two years of age. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and devoted all her time to her family and home. She was a member of the Town Herman Trinity Lutheran church all her life.
      Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Otto (Anna) Widder of Kohler, Mrs. R. C. (Hulda) Pippert of Cleveland, Wis., Mrs. William (Meta) Athorp of town Mosel, and Mrs. Louis (Emma) Ahrens of Sheboygan; three sons, Otto of town Herman, Paul on the homestead and Dr. Edward of Tonica, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband passed away January 18, 1938, and a son Rudolph, aged 3 years, also preceded her in death.
      Funeral services will be held Sunday at the farm home and at the Town Herman Trinity Lutheran church, the Rev. Walter Kitzerow officiating, and burial will be made in the family lot in the church cemetery.
