    • Frank Hooyman
      July 12, 1937

Frank Hooyman, 79, route 4, Appleton, died at his home at 2:30 yesterday afternoon after a lingering illness. He was born Sept. 15, 1858, and came to America from Europe when seven years old and lived on the same farm near Freedom the remainder of his life. He attended school at Freedom and was a member of the St. Nicholas church and the Holy Name society and the St. Therese society of the church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Frank Calnin, town of Center; Mrs. Arnold Van Deraa, Little Chute; Mrs. John J. Vanden Heuvel, Little Chute; four sons, Henry, Sylvester, at home; Antone, Freedom; Nicholas, Appleton, 20 grandchildren.
    • My great great grandfather was very proud of his mustache, which was a deep red color. He would style each side into fancy swirls. He was a very happy man and laughed a lot. He would laugh so hard that tears ran down his cheeks and straightened the curls on his mustache. He would wipe his face with a huge blue handkerchief. The curls would hang on each side of his face and he looked like a walrus.
My grandma (Evelyn Bongers) remembers him and how funny he was.
