      Greenleaf

      Age 50, died peacefully in the company of his family in his own home on Monday, March 18, 2002 after a courageous battle with A.L.S. He was born on October 4, 1951 in Green Bay, son of the late Norbert and Florence (Diny) Kersten. He married Gail M. Steinke on September 3, 1977 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf. He was employed by the Brillion Iron Works and also was a school bus driver for 10 years. He was an usher and active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf. Paul enjoyed his hobby farm, bird watching, gardening, hunting, fishing, and his angel collection. Paul is survived by his wife, Gail, Greenleaf four children: Dan (Julie) Kersten, Appleton Tammy Kersten, Appleton Charlene Kersten, Greenleaf and Dustin Kersten, Greenleaf grandson, Adam two brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe (Evelyn) Kersten, Greenleaf, and David (Bernetta) Kersten, Hilbert seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy (Randy) Olejniczak, Green Bay, Irene (Tom) Strenn, Appleton, Rita (Richard) Koltz, Greenleaf, Doris (Donald) Wegand, Greenleaf, Linda (Bernard) Vander Heiden, Kaukauna, Mary (Andrew) Hassemer, Greenleaf, and Lou Ann (Warren) Rueden, De Pere mother-in-law, Vernita Steinke, Brillion Gail's sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Joseph Opalecky, Algonquin, IL, brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Cheryl Steinke, Athens, and Donald and Penny Steinke, Brillion and Paul is further survived by a special uncle, Peter Kersten, Green Bay and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Norbert, brother-in-law, Keith Steinke, and father-in-law, Raymond Steinke. Friends and family may call Wednesday, March 20, 2002 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue directly at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenleaf from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thurs., Mar. 21, 2002 at church, with Fr. Robert Kabat officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
