- Francis J. Gossens "Frank" N234 Rogers Lane Appleton Age 64, died unexpectedly Monday, June 14, 1999, at the Appleton Medical Center. He was born April 18, 1935, in Kimberly, son of the late Joseph and Marie (VanLieshout) Gossens. On August 3, 1955, Frank married the former Charlotte Dupont at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. The couple lived in the area their entire married lives. Frank worked as a wire weaver at Appleton Wire Works until 1974, at which time he opened Frank Gossens Insurance Company in Appleton. He worked in the insurance business until his health forced his retirement in 1998. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing and making maple syrup. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy, the High Cliff Yacht Club (having served as Commodore), the Kimberly Kiwanis, where he served numerous offices, and also served on the Kimberly District School Board for 12 years where he had served as its president and labor negotiator. Survivors include his wife of almost 44 years, Charlotte, Appleton two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth (Dan) Sprister, New Franken, and Ellen (David) Mucha, St. Paul, Minnesota two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg (Laurie) Gossens, Montpelier, Vermont, and Steve (Kathy) Gossens, Black Creek nine grandchildren and one on the way, Amanda and Billy Sprister, Banning Mucha and one expected, Tristan and Jonathon Gossens, Amy, Carrie, Kayla and Shawna Gossens two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul (Bonnie) Gossens, Wauwatosa, and Tom (Margaret) Gossens, Appleton four sisters and brothers-in-law, Marlene (Tom) Kloiber, Kimberly JoAnn (David) Manley, Fond du Lac Jean (Don) Erdmann, Little Chute, and Mary (Sam) Lamers, Kimberly numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy, with Fr. Donald Fuller officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church from 2:30 p.m. Thursday until the time of services. There will be no visitation at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
