Van Dyke, Irene Irene Mary Van Dyke, age 86 and formerly of Kaukauna, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at the Christian Home in Waupun. Irene was born on August 27, 1921, in Abbotsford, WI, the daughter of Frank and Lena (Jochmann) Hopfensperger. She was united in marriage to Harvey Van Dyke on August 26, 1938. They resided in Kaukauna until they relocated to Waupun in 2004. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Irene will be missed and is lovingly survived by Harvey, her husband of sixty-nine years; two daughters, Joyce (Gerald) Lamers and Terri (Thomas) Main; and a son-in-law, Leo Penterman. She is further survived by ten grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Hietpas; Kerri (Nick) Siegel; Mike Lamers and special friend April Schwantes; Brad (Jenny) Main; Michelle (Andy) Kast; Kathy (Greg) Hagens; Diane (Bill) Lutz; Douglas (Donna) Penterman; Lisa (Scott) Underwood; Bill (Laurie) Penterman; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Her sister Esther Thiel; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Hopfensperger; Myrna Hopfensperger; Clara Van Dyke; Doris Van Dyke; and brother-in-law, John Wisneski also survive.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Penterman; a grandson, Joseph Penterman; parents; five brothers, Lawrence, Harvey, Harold, William, and Vilas Hopfensperger; and a sister Margaret DeBruin.
A memorial fund has been established in Irene's name. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 118 West Main Street, Waupun, with the Rev. Julio Mirables Drago officiating. A private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kaukauna. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
