- Evelyn Marie (Thomsen) Kohl, age 87, died peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at her home. She was born on June 25, 1929 in Peshtigo, Wisconsin to the late Emil and Anna Thomsen. Her family moved to the Little Chute area as a young child. Evelyn was united in marriage to Ervin Kohl in June of 1954 in Cook County Illinois. They raised their family on a small dairy farm in the Town of Grand Chute. Evelyn loved to tend to her garden, canning many fruits and vegetables. She was an accomplished knitter who made many sweaters and blankets for her family throughout the years. When knitting was getting hard-she loved to work on picture puzzles and Sudoku puzzles. Evelyn and Ervin enjoyed many family barbeques, her pets and making her favorite chocolate pinwheel cookies, which would be gone by the end of the night.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Becky (David) Reider, Michael (Lorrie) Kohl, Steve (Sandy) Kohl, Laurie Kohl, William Kohl, Jeff Kohl and Tom (Lori) Kohl and Barry Kohl; a special friend to the family Karen Karls, grandchildren Tracy (Phillip) Ortman, Colleen Kohl and Joe Nackers, Kelly (Scott) Vandenbusch, Ben (Jaclyn) Reider, Samantha Kohl, and Megan and Ethan Karls; great-grandchildren, Hailey Kohl, Brady and Aubrey Vandenbusch, and Charley Ann Reider; and a great-great-grandson, Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Matz, and by many nieces, nephews. Evelyn is also preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Margie, three sisters, two brothers and Ervin's siblings.
The funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the funeral home. Evelyn's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
