- Betty J. (Schuh) Mathy, Kimberly, age 81, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at her home with her loving family by her side. Betty was born in Little Chute on January 22, 1929, to the late Adrian and Stella (Kadinger) Biesterveld. On September 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to Richard Schuh. He preceded her in death in 1999. On September 3, 2004, she was united in marriage to James Mathy. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Betty was a proud mother who spent most of her life raising her children. She also worked for many years at AAL, retiring in the mid-80s. She loved to play bingo, cards, read, spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. John Catholic Church Choir in Little Chute and was also on their finance committee. She has most recently been a member at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks.
She will be sadly missed by her five daughters: Joyce (Robert) Hackel, Sheboygan Falls, and their children Michael (Jill), Scott (Jenn) and Ben (Mary) Hackel; Carol (Michael) Heiting, Kansas City, MO, and their children Brian (Amy), Eric (Jenny), and Jason Heiting; Jan (Floyd) Hoppa, Kaukauna, and their children Michelle (Denny) Gruenstern and Laurie (Greg) Bongers; Cathy (Pat) Wurdinger, Hollandtown, and their children Nick (Amy) Wurdinger and Carrie (Jerry) Saurbeir; and Ellen (Rob) Romensko, Darboy and their children Troy, Kevin, and Rick; son Paul (Lori) Schuh, Combined Locks, and children Jarrod, Alex, Sydnie, and Paige Schuh; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Leo (Rita) Biesterveld, Kaukauna and Gerald Biesterveld, Appleton; sister Rosie (Bob) Fleming, Little Chute. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her son Terry and a brother Joseph.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Friday, August 6, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St., Combined Locks, with Father Raphael Chiaka officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Friday from 2 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Paul Hospice Services for their dignified and compassionate care shown to Betty.
