- Neenah, Wisconsin - David Borgwardt, age 81, of Neenah, died peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Brewster Village Nursing Home, in Appleton. He was born on December 13, 1937 in Mondovi, WI, son of late Merle & Margaret (Neukom) Borgwardt. After High School David proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. David married Shirley Roberts on August 23, 1958, sharing 44 years together. He enjoyed riding his Harleys, musky fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and woodworking, especially with diamond willow. He was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church of Neenah, ABATE, lifetime NRA member, Ducks Unlimited, Drifters Snowmobile Club, multiple musky clubs, and the Neenah Nodaway Yacht Club. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his five children, Debbie Rustad, Neenah, Ric Borgwardt, Omro, Donna (Todd Sr.) Balke, Winneconne, Sandra (Derek) Walker, Neenah, Kathy Martin, Appleton, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Delmar Luebke; his wife, Shirley; brother, Joe Borgwardt; brothers-in-law: Larry, Albert, Roger, and Gary Roberts; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Roberts.
The Christian Funeral Service for David will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church (1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah) with Rev. Richard L. Frost officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Military Honors will be performed at the conclusion of the Christian Funeral Service at the church. David will be laid to rest alongside Shirley in Clayton Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers for their care and support throughout David's illness.
