    • Elayne Ann (Hooyman) Peterson, of Neenah, born Feb 28, 1937, our fun and loving Mom, wife, and Nana, died peacefully on Feb 29, 2016 with her two daughters gently holding her hands. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Peter P Peterson, two daughters - Lori and Tom York of Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa and Kelly Gavronski of Appleton, and one son, Peter A Peterson (and partner Michele Nichols) of Victor, NY. Her grandchildren are Christopher (wife Carolyn) Peterman of Crescent Springs, KY, Stuart Peterman of Denton TX, Patrick Hill (friend Sarah Knooihiuzen) of Oshkosh, Thomas (Sarah) York of Dallas, TX and Andrew York (fiancĂ©e Heather Brick) of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by two great grandsons: Calder and Marshall York of Dallas, and one due in August (to Christopher and Carolyn in Kentucky). She has one surviving sister, Janet Ludholtz, of Minneapolis, MN, and brother-in-law Richard (Fran) Peterson of Virginia, as well as special nieces and nephews.

Elayne is preceded in death by her parents Ken and Bertha Hooyman, a mother-in-law Lorna Peterson, one brother Eugene Hooyman and nephew Christopher Hooyman.

She is a retired employee of the Appleton School District, a job she cherished, and where she made many lasting friends.

Our Mom 'Nana' was truly the piece that completed our family puzzle. She had so many interests that her calendar was always full. She loved her children and grandchildren, and was always scheduling her next trip to visit them, or participate in the activities they were involved in. She was a quilter, and loved bike riding, water exercising at the "Y" and especially coffee and pastries with her swim friends afterwards. She loved the beach in Gulf Shores, AL where she had even more friends and more fun - walking, biking and socializing. She loved to bake. Her specialty was lemon meringue pie. The grandchildren particularly loved her Christmas cookies.

Mom also enjoyed performances at the PAC. She loved the mystery girl trips with her group of dear friends. She also loved her bridge groups and quilt clubs. Mom was the ultimate card player, and really loved Phase 10. She loved to dance, and even sing. She sang for funerals in the church choir.

Mom was very generous, and gave to many charity organizations in the valley. She also volunteered at several elementary schools, where she loved reading with the children. She cherished her time every Sunday morning from 5:00-6:00am when she went to the chapel at a local Catholic church to pray, read, and prepare for her week.

A Memorial Service honoring Elayne will be held at 6 PM, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Deacon Rick Dvorak celebrating. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 4 - 6 PM. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.

As you who are reading this can tell, our Mom and Nana lived every moment of every day. She was the most positive person, and impacted every life she encountered. We will miss her more than we can express, and we know she will also be missed by her many, many friends.

We love you Mom and Nana, forever and always! Your energy and love will remain with us, and we thank you for that.
