 | James “Jim” McQuillan, age 85, passed away at home, Friday, May 19, 2023. Jim was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin on August 27, 1937, to the late Peter and Helen (Krablean) McQuillan. He grew up in Menasha, Wisconsin and graduated from Menasha High in 1955. Jim worked at Marathon/American Can and its successors for 39 years retiring in 1996 and was a member of Local 77P. On July 16, 1960, he married Shirley M. Werner and they had two sons: Timothy and Patrick. On October 11, 1996, Jim married Shirley A. Nelson. Jim was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Parish in Menasha where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of the National Guard, 32nd Division and when he was called up, he was sent to Ft. Lewis in Washington for training in anticipation of deployment elsewhere.
Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley A.; his sons: Timothy “Tim” (Sandra) McQuillan, Hubertus, Wisconsin, and Patrick “Pat” (Kate) McQuillan, Fox Crossing, Wisconsin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters: Colleen “Kelly” (Wayne) Noffke, Menasha, Wisconsin, and Kathleen “Kitty” (Mike) Peterson, McKinney, Texas; the mother of his sons, Shirley M. “Sam” McQuillan, Neshkoro, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Patrick, Harold (Dorothy), Robert (Margaret), Jack (Ellen); and sister-in-law, Joan Gisch.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 324 Nicolet Blvd., Menasha, Wisconsin 54952, with Fr. Judah Pigon officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place in St. Margaret Cemetery in Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
Shirley would like to thank family members, friends, and all the caregivers, especially Ginny, who helped make it possible for Jim to stay at home. It was truly appreciated. |
