![]() | George A. Otte, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 18th, 2024. George was born on February 14th, 1956, to the late Norbert and Jean Otte in Kaukauna, where he lived his entire life. On December 30th, 1977, George was united in marriage to Donna Verbeten, and together they raised four wonderful children whom he loved whole-heartedly. George worked at Thilmany Paper Mill in Kaukauna from 1976 until 1988, then for SCA/Essity Paper Mill from 1988 until his retirement in 2021. George was a man of faith and devotion who unconditionally supported his family, friends, and church–often with witty humor mixed with sincere, heartfelt advice or support. In his early life, he enjoyed his pool league with friends and his bowling league with Donna; he also enjoyed cribbage, board games, family get-togethers, and reading (especially his Bible), as well as showing up to support his children and grandchildren in their performances and sporting events. George was a spiritual foundation who continuously prayed for his family’s health, safety and salvation; he was also an active deacon at his church, where he served as a mentor and guide for his family in faith. Above all, he was an amazing, loving husband, father, and grandfather who took pride in serving others and honoring God with his life. George is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna; his four children: Chris (special friend Tammy Nelson) Otte of Neenah; Jeremy (Jessica) Otte of Two Rivers; Sarah (Bryce) Tummett of Cecil; and Michele (Joe) Lewandowski of Hollandtown; nine grandchildren: Kayden and Kashton Otte; Lucroy and Calleah Otte; Kylie, Kennedy, Joseph, Carter, and Turner Lewandowski; as well as Tammy Nelson’s children Trista and Tyler; siblings: Mary Otte of Combined Locks; Nancy (Joel) Marsh of Mountain; Robert (Lynn) Otte of Appleton; sisters and brothers-in-law: Diane Beahm, Karen Verbeten, Debbie (Ken) Vander Heiden, Shari Johnson, Tom (special friend Cathy) Verbeten, Tim Verbeten, Terry (Lisa) Verbeten; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. George was preceded in death by his parents: Norbert and Jean Otte; sister and brother-in-law: Linda Kneepkens and Tom Kneepkens; Donna’s parents: James Verbeten and Rosella Verbeten; brother-in-law: James Beahm; sister-in-law: Sheila Novachich; nephews and niece: Mark Kiar, Joshua Verbeten, and Rebecca Verbeten. His celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Church, 1320 W. Wisconsin Ave, Appleton. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Hope Church Thursday, June 27th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Friday, June 28th, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Otte family wishes to especially thank the Fox Crossing emergency response and medical team for their quick response; Pastors Bruce and Linda Dailey for their compassion and support; the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Funeral Home in assisting George’s family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial foundation has been established in memory of George and can be mailed to Memorial Fund, 2316 Joyce St. Kaukauna, WI, 54130. |
