    • Obit. De Pere Journal Democrat 2-3-1955 John C. Baeten, 58 route 3 Kaukauna, died at his home Friday afternoon after a heart attack . He had been in ill health the last five months. Born at Wrightstown Feb. 21, 1896, he was a life long resident of this area. He was employe d at the Thilmany Paper company at Kaukauna and at the Kimberly-Clark corporation at Kimberl y for the past 25 years. His wife the former Maria Vanderheiden, to whom he married in 1922 . A Veteran of World War I he was a member of the American Legion Post at Wrightstown. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Leroy Oakley of Kaukauna, Mrs. Jack Martzhal of route 3 K aukauna, Mrs. Robert Merkel of Milwaukee; six sons, Robert, John and James of Milwaukee; Marv in, Clayton of Kaukauna; Edward of route 3 Kaukauna; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jo seph Ley of De Pere and two brothers, Fred and Francis of route 3 Kaukauna. Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Monday morning in St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial wa s in the church cemetery with the DeWane Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at the grave by the Urban Klister American Legion post. Colo r bearers were Clifford Beining and Larry Diny. The color guard were John Diny and Steve Riba rchek. Members of the firing squad were Donald and Art Meulemans, Luke Verbeten, Dick Wymelen berg, Robert Nackers and Jim Bungeon. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Gerondale, Jasper Lieber gen, Irvin Van Dyke, Gerald Emmett and Lloyd Berken and Ray Utke. Active pallbearers were Don ald and Joe Ley, Casmirir Galkowski and Lem, Melvin and H. Baeten.
