    • Donald F. Burton, age 84 of New London, died at his residence Saturday, October 1, 2016, surrounded by his family.

      Donald was born on June 11, 1932, son of Francis and Lorena (Marsh) Burton. He married Margie Cohea on October 10, 1953. Donald served his country in the US Air Force as a flight mechanic, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam and one in France. He retired from the military in June of 1972 after serving more than 20 years. Don had a passion for fishing and was a talented jig maker. He had a special place in his heart for the Wolf River.

      Donald is survived by his wife, Margie Burton; children, Annette (Mike) Kiser, Donna Frederick (special friend Tim), William (Peggy) Burton, David Burton (special friend Jane), Janet Burton (special friend Dave); 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      Donald is preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Jr.; daughter, Lisa Ann; and grandson, Dalton.

      A funeral service for Donald will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery, New London.

      The family wishes to thank the staffs at both Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology and Theda Care at Home Hospice for the tender care shown to Don during his illness, especially (Dr.) Jay Rust.

      In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
