  • Notes
    • Don "Donnie" Cleven, the son of John and Minnie (Hendricks) Cleven, born August 16th, 1929, passed on to heaven on July 18th, 2017, with his family by his side. He married Regina Alberts on September 7th, 1957.

Donnie graduated De Pere High School in 1947. He joined the Army and served for two years during the Korean Conflict. After the military, he farmed in Wrightstown and also in De Pere in the neighborhood where he grew up. Donnie also worked for Wisconsin Public Service for 28 years and for many years after retiring, he did contract work for WPS and loved packing his tools in his Ford pickup to help out at his children's farms and homes. Don was a man that could fix anything. He was proud of his family, of being a farmer, and for serving his country. He had a wonderful, dry sense of humor with a laugh that started in his eyes. He was an incredibly great man that will truly be missed.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, sister Blanche and her husband Hank Heezen, brother Bob and his wife Cy, sister Alice and her husband Bernard Wicker, and brother-in-law Arnie Schmidt; his in-laws Edna and Milton Devroy, Cletus and Dorothy Alberts, Walter Alberts, Reginald Alberts, Irma Alberts, Joan and Clayton Pigeon, Bob Ward.

Survived by his wife, his children: Mike (Cindy); Mark (friend Bridgette); Bonnie; Bryan (Diane); Jim (Lori); Jeannie (Mark); Tom; Theresa. grandchildren: Krystal Cleven, Brittany (Chris) Castignanie, Keith Jahnke; Zach Cleven; Breana Cleven (fiance Jason); Danielle Cleven (friend Josh); Kyle Cleven; Kaitlin (Trent) Scott; Travis Cleven; Jason Cleven; Stephanie (Troy) Jorgensen; Allisha Schlies; Jacob Malcore; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Schmidt, sister-in-law Joanne Ward, brothers-in-law Jude Alberts, Virgil Alberts, nieces, nephews, and many friends, neighbors, and godchildren.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, on Monday, July 24 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. A Parish Prayer Service will conclude the evening. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr, Ledgeview, on Tuesday from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

Donald Cleven's family would also like to thank the nursing staff at Aurora Hospital and Aurora Hospice for their incredible compassion during this difficult time.
