- Vanden Heuvel, Florence M. (Diedrich)
Florence M Vanden Heuvel, 92 of Appleton, passed away on October 5, 2015. She was born in Freedom, WI to the late Adrian and Josephine (Daul) Diedrich on December 9, 1922 in an upstairs cheese factory on the current site of the Coffey Insurance Agency downtown Freedom.
After attending St. Nicholas School in Freedom, through the 8th grade, she moved to Appleton with her parents. Florence graduated from Appleton West in 1940 - the 1st graduating class.
Florence met her husband Raymond G. Vanden Heuvel at the Nitingale in the town of Kaukauna. They were married on June 29, 1944 at St, Therese Parish in Appleton. They resided in Little Chute, then Appleton, before buying a dairy farm in the Town of Center where they raised four children. After retirement, she moved back to Appleton with her husband.
Florence enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, canning, cooking and baking.
She will be sadly missed by husband Raymond Vanden Heuvel, their four children, 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren: Don (Kathy) Vanden Heuvel and their children: Julie (Cory) Schneider and their children Colin and Ryan. Eric (Sara) Vanden Heuvel and their children: Ethan, Madelyn, Benjamin. Jerry (Chris) Vanden Heuvel and their children: Todd (Amy) and daughters, Ashley, Ellie. Dan Vanden Heuvel and son Riley. David (Jenny) Vanden Heuvel. Bob (Emily) Vanden Heuvel and their children: Tina (Dan) Kasten and their daughters, Hannah, Adeline, Eleanor. Brenda (Mike) Riska and their sons, Cohen, Carter and Cameron. Andrew (Sarah) Vanden Heuvel and their sons, Lewis, Will and Evan. Aaron (Emily) Vanden Heuvel and their daughter, Chloe. Joan (Larry) Oudenhoven and their children: Stephanie (Dave) Ohme and their children: Katrina, Emily, Nicholas. Keith (Kelly) Oudenhoven and their children: Josephine, Jackson, Allison. Kevin (Angie) Oudenhoven and daughter Olivia. Steven Oudenhoven and special friend Callie.
She is further survived by her sister Rita VanBoxel, and her husband's family: Therese Van Camp, Cyril Vanden Heuvel, Myra Mueller, Adele Mortell, Sal Vanden Heuvel.
Florence was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, an infant brother, her brother Joe (Joan) Diedrich, brother-in-law Ernest Van Boxtel. Also preceding her in death are her husband's family: John (Anna) Vanden Heuvel, Esther (Ben) Karls, Edna (Ferd) Ulman,
Rosemary (Joe) Hackel, Glen Van Camp, MaryLou Vanden Heuvel, Orville Mueller, George Vanden Heuvel, Tom Mortell, and godchild Donna (Diedrich) Mangan.
Family and Friends may call at St, Thomas More Parish, 1810 N McDonald Street Appleton, WI. Saturday, October 10th from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00. Florence will be buried at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom.
