Roovers, Rosalie C.
Rosalie Roovers, age 93, died at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, WI, on April 17, 2008. She was born in Isaar, WI, the daughter of John and Margaret (Berner) Hackel. She grew up on the family farm and married John Roovers in May, 1938. Rose and John were married 65 years and lived most of that time in Kimberly and Combined Locks, WI. He preceded her in death in January, 2004. Rose worked for Appleton Wire Works in Quality Control for 30 years and retired in 1976. After retirement she and John did some traveling and enjoyed helping with the bake sales and other events at St. Paul Church in Combined Locks.
Survivors include three children: Jerry (Jan), Appleton and their children, Sherry (John Boris), Neenah; Kathleen (Steven Chappell), Madison; Lynn (Alan Rebertus), Big Bay, MI; and Dan (Lisa) Birmingham, MI; Tom (Mary Pat), Wausau and their children, Troy (Lori), Minnetonka, MN; Rena (John Dragseth), Excelsior, MN; Dana (Todd Niklaus), Maple Grove, MN; and T.J., Minneapolis, MN; Carol Huss, Kaukauna and her children, Dawn (Ed Zenisek), Kaukauna; Randy (Bonnie), Little Chute; Chad (Lorissa), Chandler, AZ; Holly (Scott Fietzer), Greenville; and Terry (Annie), Black Creek. In addition, 25 great-grandchildren survive her.
Rose is also survived by two brothers: Lawrence Hackel, Kaukauna; and Clarence (Martha) Hackel, Seymour; two sisters-in-law: Rose Hackel, Appleton; and Florence Hackel, Manitowoc; four brothers-in-law: Tom (Doris) Roovers, Kimberly; Joe Roovers, Appleton; Frank (Shirley) Roovers, Kaukauna; and Marty (Phyllis) Roovers, Combined Locks.
Her parents, three brothers, five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law also preceded her in death.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice Ministry and all the staff at St. Paul Elder Services for their compassionate care during the five years our mother lived there.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks, on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 5 p.m. with Reverend Jim Lucas officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. prior to the service. Internment will take place in the Chapel Mausoleum at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. Unless otherwise specified, memorials will be used to benefit Affinity Visiting Nurses Ministry and St. Paul Elder Services.
