- Clarence J. Hackel, 90, Seymour, passed away at home on March 6, 2011. He was born Oct. 30, 1920, to the late John and Margaret (Berner) Hackel. On Dec. 31, 1941, he married the former Martha Roovers. The couple later moved to Seymour and farmed together until their retirement.
Clarence was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Isaar. He enjoyed gardening at home and working with the soil.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Martha; four children, Maryann Hackel, Rosemary (Duane) Hanson, Jim (Jean) Hackel and Bill (Mary) Hackel; nine grandchildren, Mike (Kathy) Hanson, Michelle (Nicholas) Flanagan, Lisa (Greg) Hein, Jeff (Darcy) Hackel, Kris (Darren) Kamke, Karri (Todd) Vandenlangenberg, Trisha (Eric) DeBruin, Paul (Jill) Hackel and Stacey (Eric) Leisgang; and 23 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by four brothers-in-law, Marty (Phyllis) Roovers, Joe Roovers, Tom (Doris) Roovers, Frank (friend, Shirley) Roovers; and a sister-in-law, Rose Hackel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Tony, Joe, Ray and Lawrence; a sister, Rosalie; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar, on Thursday, March 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. until the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating.
