    • Akstulewicz, Mike "Axel"

Mike "Axel" Akstulewicz left this world on February 26, 2017, to join his beloved wife "Freddie", whom he missed dearly, in eternal peace and happiness.

Mike was born on March 30, 1955 in Neenah, Wisconsin and married Marie "Freddie"Sokel on October 21, 1974. He went to Banta Corporation in 1973, where he worked as a millwright until his retirement in 2015.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter "Wally" Akstulewicz; his mother, Margaret "Midge" (Galeazzi) Akstulewicz; his brother, Robert Akstulewicz and his wife, Marie "Freddie" Sokel Akstulewicz.

Mike will be remembered fondly by those who knew him as the man with the hard exterior, but a very soft heart. He was a predictable soul who enjoyed the simple thing in life. Most days began with coffee and the newspaper, and by late afternoon you could find him at the Grog cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Matt Kenseth (or the NASCAR driver he had on the board for the week). He also enjoyed fishing, sturgeon spearing and sliding some money into video slots.

While he enjoyed his social circle, he also made time for family. Mike spent hours showing support for his grandchildren at sporting event, he visited the homes of his children and attended numerous family events. His grandchildren will especially miss requests to mow lawn or shovel, and the endless supply of candy bars, snacks and "zonk" prizes won on the wheel".

Mike is survived by his children; Eric (Lori) Akstulewicz, Heather Akstulewicz, Bobbi Jo Akstulewicz, Samantha (Robert) Blake and Kimberlee Akstulewicz; grandchildren; Mckenzie, MiKayla, Madison, Joseph, Alexis, Averie, Anna Dominick, Marie, and Seth; sisters; Bonnie (Frank) Kristof and Paula Akstulewicz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Redliner in Menasha on Saturday, March 4, 2017 starting at 12:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

The family would like to thank all the paramedics and first responders and especially the staff at ThedaClark, for all of your services and support over the last few difficult months. Your professionalism and compassion did not go unnoticed. We would also like to thank everyone who sent kind words and prayers - all acts of kindness were appreciated more than you know.

      Dad,

As your granddaughter, Madison likes to say, "Life is just peanut butter, sometimes it is nutritious and delicious, and sometimes it is a sticky, gooey mess - but we love it either way". We love you and we will miss you even the sticky parts. We know that Mom was there to meet you and we hope you are catching up on the years of missed Yahtzee games, Elvis songs and "coffee talk". We are pretty sure Mom has a lot to talk about; at least pretend to listen!

      Love always

      Your kids
