- Roy A. Heinzen, Kaukauna, age 94, passed into the hands of our Lord early Thursday morning, August 11, 2016 at the St. Paul Home following a brief illness. Roy was born August 9, 1922 to Albert and Mary (Backhausen) Heinzen near Antigo, WI. He graduated from Kaukauna High School and completed an apprenticeship, graduating as a machinist with Giddings & Lewis. Roy was a Navy veteran, serving during WWII. Most of his career was spent working at the Thilmany Mill in Kaukauna.
Roy married Joan Tillman on April 19, 1952 at St. Joseph Parish in Appleton. They lived in Kaukauna their entire life, raising five children. Roy and Joan were avid campers. Door County was their favorite site. They loved visiting with friends and family.
Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan; two daughters: Terry (Dick) Helf of Silver Cliff, WI; and Pam (Randy) Swensen of Kaukauna; three sons: Tim of Kaukauna; Todd of Kaukauna; and Scott (Brenda) of Black Creek; two grandchildren: Brad (Pam) Helf and Kristy Kleinschmidt; and great granddaughter, Adaleigh Kleinschmidt. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Koglin.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Emil H. Koglin.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. MARY CHURCH (119 W. 7th St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and He whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
