Verbeten, Eunice C.
Eunice C. Verbeten, 77, Wrightstown, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday afternoon, May 21, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Wrightstown on September 26, 1930, a daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Drace) Buechler. On June 22, 1953, Eunice married Luke G. Verbeten at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown.
She was a lifetime, active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and belonged to the Ladies Society. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 436, Wrightstown, and she was also a member for many years of the Friday Night Couples and Wednesday Ladies Golf Leagues at Mid-Vallee Golf Course. She enjoyed golfing, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and traveling to Texas in the winter and spending time with her "winter Texan" friends. She especially loved spending time with family and friends, and following her grandchildren's events.
Eunice is survived by her husband of 54+ years, Luke; five children: Pete (Karen) Verbeten, Greenleaf; Donna (Marcus) Shepherd, Whitehall; Tony (Kendra) Verbeten, Plymouth, MN; Amy (Michael) Marx, Fond du Lac; and Mary Verbeten, Wrightstown; ten grandchildren: Amanda, Eric, and Zachary Verbeten; Kyle and Katie Shepherd; Madeline, Mari, and Mitchell Verbeten; and Andrew and Ryan Marx; a brother, Ron (Donna) Buechler, Wrightstown; a sister-in-law, Norma Buechler, De Pere; and Luke's sisters and brother: Germaine Smith, Marie Thiel, Gen Ambrosius, and Mark (Frances) Verbeten; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Mary Verbeten; a brother, Ken Buechler; and three brothers-in-law: Doug Smith, Earl Thiel, and Bob Ambrosius.
Friends may call at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main Street, Wrightstown, on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, from 4 until 8 p.m., with the parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Paul Catholic Church, 437 Main Street, Wrightstown, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 28th, at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Eunice's family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of the Oncology Dept. of Appleton Medical Center; her Heartland Hospice case manager, Holly Brockman; and Fr. John Schuh and Sr. Mary Bride for their comfort and care during her illness.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be sadly missed.
