- Maurice Phillips Dies after Illness
DE PERE - Maurice Phillips, 83, West De Pere, route 1, died Saturday at his farm home following a short illness. Born Aug 12, 1870, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Giles Phillips, early settlers from New York State in the town of Lawrence.
In 1892 he moved to a farm at Suring. His first wife, the former Delia Church, died in 1908. In 1913 he married Dela Schneider, who died at Suring in 1933. With his third wife, the former Pearl Church, whom he married in 1946, he returned to West De Pere following his retirement from farming. At one time he served as supervisor for the town of Maple Valley in Oconto County.
Surviving are his widow; four sons, Arthur of Tomah, Ira of Union Grove; George of Mountain, and Bert of Suring; 18 grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and a brother and sister, Lester Phillips and Mrs. Eva Olson, both of Daggett, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Ryan Funeral home here. The Rev. Neil Martin, pastor of the Community Bible church of Mountain will officiate and burial will be in the South Lawrence Cemetery.
Funeral Service Set For Maurice Phillips
DE PERE - Funeral services for Maurice Phillips, 83, will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Ryan Funeral home with the Rev. Neil Martin, pastor of the Mountain, Wis., Community Bible church, in charge. Burial will be in South Lawrence cemetery. Mr. Phillips, a retired farmer, died Saturday.
