- Dennis Jude Gerrits, age 84, was called to the heavenly father early Tuesday, November 11, 2014 surrounded by his wife, Colleen Gerrits of 59 years and his daughters. Dennis is a loving husband to Colleen and loving father of Shawn (Barb) Gerrits of Hartford, Wisconsin, Mary Dickey of Cleveland, Ohio, Kevin (Kari) Gerrits of Cupertino, California, Maureen (David) Kipp of Grafton, Wisconsin, Nick (Katherine) Gerrits of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Andy (Kathy) Gerrits of North Prairie, Wisconsin, Katie (Todd) Tutas of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Sam (Anne) Gerrits of Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Loving grandfather of 22 grandchildren and great-grandfather of three children.
Dennis and Colleen raised their family in Grafton, Wisconsin and Dennis worked at the WE Energies for 34 years. He retired in 1987 and became the house husband until Colleen's retirement in 1993. They moved to Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin and enjoyed their retirement years together in the Northwoods. Most recently, they relocated to Sheboygan, Wisconsin to be close the family due to his declining health condition.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Mary Gerrits, and his younger brother, Gunny Sergeant Michael Gerrits, USMC, and many other members of the Logan and Gerrits families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Ave., Sheboygan with Rev. Matthew J. Widder, officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
