- James H. Ludwig, age 83, of Chilton, died on Sat. August 28, 2010, at the Care Center in Chilton.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1926 in Jericho, son of the late Edmund & Cecelia (Schneider) Ludwig. He married Antonia Meyer on Oct. 27, 1947, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; she preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1988. On Aug. 29, 1992 he married Betty Kramer nee Stuyvenberg at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kloten. Jim served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his service to his country he farmed in the Town of Chilton and hauled milk for many years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton.
Survivors include his wife Betty, four children, Barb (Dennis) Woelfel of Malone, Joyce Casper of New Holstein, Donna (Richard) Budnik of Chilton, Richard (Brenda) Ludwig of Chilton; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Richard) Riesterer of Chilton; three step-children, Linda Martin & friend George Muench of Cedar Grove, Jim (Patti) Martin of Little Chute, Lori (Bob) Olson of Chilton; 12 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Betty) Ludwig of Jericho; two sisters, Jane Giesen of Chilton, and Joan (Gene) Giesen of Stockbridge.
He was preceded in death by a son Ken Ludwig; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Magdeline & Leonard Jacky, Eunice & Bill Kartheiser, and John Giesen.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Wed. Sept. 1, 2010, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (62 E. Main St.) in Chilton, with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery on Thursday. Friends may call at the church from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
