- Mrs. Luke (Ethel) Robinson, age 90, Green Bay, passed away at her home Friday evening, July 20, 1990, after a long illness.
Born in Green Bay on July 29, 1899, the former Ethel Baeten was the daughter of the late Peter and Gertrude (Ambrosius) Baeten. For many years, she owned and operated a grocery store on South Broadway in Green Bay. On Jan. 2, 1939, she married Luke Robinson at St. Boniface Church, De Pere. He preceded her in death April 13, 1941.
Ethel was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, where she served as president and was a member of the Past Presidents' Group. She had been Popp Chairman for many years. A charter member of the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, she belonged to the React Group. She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish and belonged to the St. Ann's Society and the Legion of Mary.
Survivors are four sisters, Wilma Ryan and Beatrice McAbee, both of Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Sister Mary Bede of Green Bay, and Martha Baeten of De Pere; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Peter, John and Bert Baeten; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Nora Burgoyne, and Helen Anderson.
Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, after 4 p.m. Monday. Members of the VFW Auxiliary will have a service at 6:15 p.m. The Ladies of the Fraternal Order of Eagles will meet at 6:30 p.m. The parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church, Green Bay, with Father John O'Brien officiating. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, De Pere.
Memorials may be given through the funeral home to Father Lambert Baeten of Santa Clotilda, Peru, and to Sister Jean Ryan at the Haitian Mission Center, Florida.
