- Rolland "Rollie" Jahns, age 93, New London, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at St. Joseph Residence. He was born on January 9, 1923, Markesan, son of the late Irwin and Anna (Draheim) Jahns. On June 18, 1944, he was united in marriage to Gladys McDougal, at Buffalo Presbyterian Church, south of Montello; she preceded him in death in 1998. He served his country in the US Army, WWII from 1946-1947. Rollie owned and operated Rollies Full Service Gas Station in New London from 1973-1998, the last 9 years under the guiding hand of his daughter Sheryl. For the last 12 years after retirement Rollie enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona.
He is survived by his daughters, Dianne (Larry) Dahl, Ogema; Sheryl Spencer, New London; Valerie Jahns, Oshkosh; sons Rolland Jahns, Jr., Great Bend, Kansas; and Kent (Charlie) Jahns, Kingston, Wisconsin; three brothers, Dennis Jahns, Michigan, Irwin (Georgia) Jahns, and Donald (Kathy) Jahns, both of Florida. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Gladys, and his second wife Pearl.
Funeral services for Rollie will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be held.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Washington Center, St. Joseph Residence, and Heartland Hospice for all the care and concern they have shown to Rollie and the family.
