Wolfinger, Elmer P. Elmer P. Wolfinger, Darboy, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2007, at home after a short period of Lou Gehrig's disease at the age of 84. He was born December 29, 1922, to the late John and Ida (Juckem) in Darboy. He married the former Claire Van Thiel on 7/11/46 at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute, they celebrated 61 years of marriage on 7/11/07. Elmer was a hardworking husband and father and never wanted to quit. He loved the construction of homes and the people he built for of which there were many to be proud of in his 56 years in business. He enjoyed working with his two sons John and Jeff. Elmer also enjoyed the cottage since 1964, taking the family skiing and on rides on the pontoon. There was also fishing and snowmobiling for the winter. He made sure there was a good fire in the fireplace (like toast). Elmer enjoyed many activities, volleyball and badminton, couples bowling, golf, horse shoes, square dancing, dice games and sheephead. Trips to Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico and a few cruises were also enjoyed over the years. Elmer was proud and good to his family, and truly loved his children and grandchildren and the activities they enjoyed, especially basketball. His pride also showed in his garden and rose bushes and he always made sure the birds had enough seed. Elmer was an avid Packers Fan, especially when they were winning. His winning smile would always be there.
He is survived by his wife, Claire, his five children: Darlene (Gary) Emmers and their children, Lance (Cheri) Emmers and Brian Emmers; John (Pam-Fiancee) Wolfinger and their children, Stacey (Bill) Butler, and their children, Jenessa and Mikayla, Robin (Bob) Mayfield, and their children, Kyle and Lauren, Jon (Collette) and their children, Devon and Aubree; Kathy Loiselle and children, Jennifer (Josh) Hietpas, Kristy (John) Reider and their son, Elijah, Kerri Leigh Loiselle; Judy (Michael Francis) Wolfinger and their children, Tyler, Ashley, and Mitchell DeBruin, Lauren and Adam Francis; Jeff (Lori Richardson) Wolfinger and Jasmine (Grandpas favorite 4 legged furry friend); his brother, Carl (Jan) Wolfinger, his sister, Doris Boehnlein, brother-in-law, Clarence Bongers, sisters-in-law, Ann Stoffel, Theresa Kelly, and Frances Van Thiel, his godchildren: Tom Bongers, Jean Miskoviak and Thomas Kelly, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edward Wolfinger, sisters, Amelia (Howard) Dobberke, Angeline (Louis) Mueller, Loretta (Earl) Maxwell, Theresa (Lawrence) Madson, and Jeanette Cumber, godchild, Diane Dobberke.
He was further preceded in death by his wife's family, mother and father-in-law, Leonard (Petronella Vanden Boogard) Van Thiel, brothers-in-law: Elroy Boehnlein, John Van Thiel, Edward (Joanne) Van Thiel, Joe Stoffel, and Dale Kelly; sisters-in-law: Delia (Merlin) Procknow, Maire Bongers, and infant Leona Van Thiel.
Elmer's Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Jim Hablewitz officiating. Friends will be received on SUNDAY at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4 p.m. until the Parish Prayer service at 7 p.m. and again on MONDAY at Church from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly. A memorial fund has been established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
