Fritz, Rose M.
Rose M. Fritz, 75, Clintonville, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 2009, at her home surrounded by family. The former Rose Marie Peeters was born July 26, 1934, in the Town of Deer Creek, Outagamie County, to Cornelius and Louise (Van den Elzen) Peeters. In 1953, she graduated from Clintonville High School. On Sept. 10, 1960, she was united in marriage to Willis H. Fritz at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek.
In her younger years, she worked at the Hansen Glove Factory, Clintonville, and was a waitress at several area restaurants like the Midway. For many years, Rose was employed by the Clintonville School District as a Secretary for the Elementary School principal. Then she worked for some time in the library at Bear Creek Grade School, retiring in the early 1990s.
Rose is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church where she was active in the PCCW, she served communion to the homebound and organizing the sheepshead card parties. She volunteered not only at church but also in the community, with activities like "meals-on-wheels" for local individuals. Her interests included gardening, canning, sewing and picking strawberries. Rose enjoyed fishing up north at the cottage on Pelican Lake and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Willis; three children, Steven Fritz, Mackville; Susan (Brian) Garrow, Appleton; and Daniel (Joy) Fritz, Shawano; six grandchildren, Kyle, Trisha, Ethan, Stuart Fritz and Heidi and Scott Garrow; three sisters, Elizabeth Hansen, Fond du Lac; Dorothy (James) Mackowiak, Clintonville; and Helen Mackowiak, Clintonville; three sisters-in-law, Helen Peeters, New London; Jean Fritz, Caroline; and Phyllis Brunner, Clintonville; three brothers-in-law, Duane (Joan) Fritz, Manitowoc; Douglas (Janet) Fritz, Marion; and John Draeger, Wittenberg. Rose is further survived by many nieces, nephews, dear neighbors, friends and her "granddog," Radar.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Agnes Hooyman and Roseann Peeters; three brothers, Anthony, Joseph and Martin Peeters; and three brothers-in-law, James Hansen, John Mackowiak and Herbert Hooyman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Fr. John "Jack" Mullarkey will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
