    • John Buechel, 88, died Sunday night at the Mike Pitzen farm home in Marytown following a lingering illness.

      Born in Johnsburg on April 8, 1861, the son of John and Anna Maria Pulvermacher Buechel, he attended Marytown schools. After his marriage he moved to a farm in Jericho, where he also worked as a stonemason. He retired in 1919 and lived with a son until seven years ago, at which time he took up residence at the Pitzen home. He attended St. Mary’s Church, Marytown, and was a member of the Holy Name society.

      He married Anna Marie Heimermann on May 7, 1890 in Jericho.
      Surviving are four children, Mrs. Joe (Anna) Petrie and Mrs. Mike (Leona) Pitzen of Marytown, Frank of Jericho and Mrs. William (Hilda) Halbach of Calvary; 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; four brothers, William of Marytown, Mathias and Joe of Jericho, and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Freund of Jericho.

      Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Pitzen residence and at St. Mary’s church, Marytown, with Father Neu officiating. Burial was made in the Jericho cemetery.
