    • OTTO HERMAN TAKEN BY DEATH
Otto Herman, aged 75, a life long resident of Manitowoc county and for the
last half century of Manitowoc city, passed away at his home at 1418 South
Ninth street early last evening, death ending weeks of suffering that had
      confined him to his bed.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with
a family reunion. Besides his wife Mr. Herman is survived by five of six children
born to the couple, Mrs. Otto Metzger and Mrs. Ed. Cerull of this city, Mrs.
Joseph Kautz of Milwaukee, Emil and John of this city, will be present at the
funeral services which will be held at nine o'clock Monday morning, from the St.
Boniface church, Rev. Father Binder officiating. Burial will take place at
      Evergreen.
Mr. Herman was born at Kellnersville on April 7, 1851, and made his home there
for a number of years and then removed to this city where he was married to
Louise Bauknecht on February 21, 1876. Since that time Mr. and Mrs. Herman have
resided at the home in which Mr. Herman died, at 1418 South Ninth street, where
six children were born to them. For a long period of years Mr. Herman was employed
at the Smalley Manufacturing company until a few months ago when he was forced to
retire due to failing health. For weeks he has been confined to his bed.
Mr. Herman was a devoted church member, being a member of the St. Boniface church,
the St. Boniface Knights, the Catholic Knights and the Foresters.
Besides Mrs. Herman and the five children, two sisters, Mrs. Victoria Leisch of
Appleton and Gertrude, four brothers, Charles of Sheboygan and Andrew, Anton and
John all of Appleton, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild survive. Mr.
Herman was the oldest of the remaining six brothers and sisters and was a member of
      a family of nine children.
