- My grandpa Reynebeau's dad, Jack, was just starting the Reynebeau greenhouse (Reynebeau Floral) in 1943. Grandpa Reynebeau was about 10 years old. In early springtime he helped his dad haul horse manure from a farm in Appleton to the greenhouse in Little Chute. The manure was used to heat the greenhouses so that the seedlings wouldn't freeze.
In late spring, they would rent a horse for 50 cents a day to plow the raspberry patches that were next to the greenhouses. The horse would come from John Hietpas farm which was located in Little Chute. He started these chores when Grandpa Reynebeau was about 6 years old until 12 or 13. Rob Reynebeau -- 2006
My Great Grandpa, John Reynebeau, attended St. John Grade School. In 1908 he was in the 1st grade. He skipped 7th grade and graduated from 8th grade in 1914 at the age of twelve. He did not go to High School. His parents needed him to work. He worked on a farm and did other odd jobs for $0.08 an hour. At the age of 16, he earned enough money to go to Appleton Vocational School where he learned extended math and carpenter skills. After graduating from vocational school, he did many different jobs.
When he was 28 years old, he build his home in Little Chute on the corner of Main St. and Buchanan. He dug the basement by hand with a shovel and had a hourse with a harness on it that pulled a tarp on which he piled the ground. The hourse hauled it do a different spot where he needed fill.
He worked at Thilmany Pulp & Paper for many years and started a little greenhouse in 1935. Today the greenhouse is still there owned by two of his grandsons. My Great Grandpa died in 1972 at the age of 69.

My great grandpa John Reynebeau was born in 1902. His dad, my great-great grandfather, Peter, immigrated from Holland in 1877. Holland is known for flowers, especially tulips. John started Reynebeau Floral in 1933 with help from Peter. He grew raspberry bushes where my grandparents currently live. My grandpa, Gerald, worked at the floral when he was growing up. He planted flowers and watered them. My dad also worked at Reynebeau Floral as a boy. Reynebeau Floral is still in operation today.
