      Age 76, passed away peacefully in church while attending Ash Wednesday Mass on February 28, 2001. Thomas moved to Appleton from Canton, Ohio in 1948, to play baseball with the Appleton Papermakers, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1948 he met Florence Schaefer and later married her. Thomas worked for Kimberly-Clark and was a union president for many years. Thomas was a active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1948. Thomas is survived by 2 sons, Steve, and his daughters, Kelley and Erin; Tommy (Kathy), and their children, Molly and Joseph; and one daughter, Sally (Dean) Mayhew, and their children, Rose, Jill and Dena; also survived by his siblings from Canton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence, on August 4, 1976. The funeral liturgy will be on Friday March 2, 2001 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH (410 West Lawrence Street) at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. John Holly, OFM Cap. officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday March 1, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
