- Vern J. Lord, 75, Marshfield, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, at 10:30 a.m. Friday following a heart attack.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerrol Leitner officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Lord was born May 12, 1898, in the town of New Rome, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orin Lord. He married Gertrude Bushmaker in 1920. She died in 1940 and his second marriage was to Katherine Johnson in 1946. She preceded him in death in 1962. He worked at Consolidated Papers, Inc., in the cleaners of the Wisconsin Rapids Division for 30 years, retiring in 1963. At that time he moved to Marshfield.
Survivors include two sons, Ervin, Wisconsin Rapids, and Linius, Marshfield; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Compton, North Carolina; 23 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at the Ritchay Funeral Home from 2 p.m. Sunday until time of services. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday.
