      Age 91, died unexpectedly, Saturday morning, October 5, 2002. She was born March 5, 1911, to the late Herman and Bertha (Spaude) Schultz in the Town of Osborn and moved to Appleton in 1927. Lauretta graduated from Appleton High School in 1929 and from Lawrence University in 1933, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in math. She later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in primary education. Lauretta taught for 42 years; nine years in rural schools and at Clovis Grove School, Menasha, two years as a second and third grade teacher and 31 years as a first grade teacher. She then volunteered at Clovis Grove School for 21 years in second grade. Lauretta enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world, gardening, reading, especially National Geographic, eating out at new places, playing sheepshead with her friends and watching “Wheel of Fortune”. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Delta Kappa Gamma (Honorary Teacher??(TM)s Society), Menasha Historical Society, Business and Professional Women, WCREA, OCREA and AAUW Travel Group. Survivors include nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Edward (Mabel) Schultz, Meta Schultz, Elsie (Arnold) Fetting, Arline (Elmer) Heiden, Gilbert Schultz and a nephew, Dr. E. A. Fetting. Funeral services for Lauretta will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, with Reverend Kenneth L. Frey officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 pm, Monday and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor??(TM)s choice.
