- Joyce Marie Thyes (nee Wisniewski), age 89, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 27, 2015. She was born April 26, 1926, in Lessor Township, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Bernice (Bishop) Wisniewski. Joyce was the oldest of five children. Joyce married Leland Merle Thyes on November 17, 1945, at the Methodist Parsonage in Seymour, WI. Together they raised nine children and celebrated 44 years of marriage before Leland passed away on April 21, 1990. Joyce's love and enjoyment was her family.
Survivors include six sons, Gary, Frank (Patti), Gerald (Laurie), Randy (Laura), Kevin (Julie), and Dale (Gail); three daughters, Bonnie (Roger) Rohloff, Connie (Greg) Urban, and Karen (Michael) Robenhorst; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys (Arnold) Beyer, Sylvia Adamski, and Ruth (Richard) Bickle; sister-in-law, Lola Wisniewski; special family member, Mary Ann Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents; brother, John "Jackie" Wisniewski; and brothers-in-law, Eugene "Jumbo" Adamski and Ronald Westcott; and grandson, Chris Weber.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, Green Bay, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday, October 2, 2015, from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Apfel officiating. Joyce's family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff at Bellin ER, ICU, Dr. Amy James, and 4th Floor staff. They would also like to thank Unity Hospice for caring for their mother and keeping her comfortable, especially Michelle and Stacey and Pastor Steve Apfel. Thank you.
